No Makeup, Mismatch, No Problem!
Do you know what the best days of the year are? Holidays? Well... maybe. Well its great to be home for the holidays. I think the best days of the year come about once every couple weeks. You know the days that you don't wear any makeup, you throw your hair into a bun on top of your head and you go to the store in your mismatching sweats and bright colored rainboots. Those are MY best days of the year. I love waking up around ten and smelling my mom cooking breakfast. I love bumming around the house just surfing the net or watching a chick flick marathon. I love the looks from people in my small town (because everyone knows me)when I walk into the star looking like death-warmed over. It was fantastic. Those are the most relaxing days. So I challenge everyone to have a few more no makeup, mismatching days...

the Most Overlooked Day of the Week
"Why is this place called Tuesday?"
"Because I usually come here on Wednesday... but Thursday has a great view."
-White Collar
When people talk about their favorite day of the week, the common response is Friday or Saturday. Never do you hear Thursday. But why not? Because Thursday is the world's best kept secret. No one knows about the magic that Thursday brings. It relieves stress. It is the most overlooked day of the week! This is the perfect example of why Thursday is such an amazing day. It is not only closer to the weekend but dreaded Wednesday is over! Thursdays are my sanctuary. I only have one class. That's right.. All DAY LONG! It is magnificent. Thursday is also my clean-up-the-apartment-day too. I scrub the bathroom, toilets, shower, do my laundry and really deep clean. And honestly, I love it! I cherish Thursdays! I wake up ten minutes before I go to school and wear a t-shirt and jeans. (That is really dressing down for me haha) I come home pull my hair up on top of my head put on comfy clothes and get to work. It would be quite the sight to see. Mismatching shorts and and old worn out t-shirt, hair in a messy lopsided bun, scrubbing away to my iPod, singing at the top of my lungs to the Phantom of the Opera or Disney. And no, I am not musically gifted but I do love to sing. Also the other wonderful things about Thursdays is that I can study as long and as hard as I need to. I LOVE IT! Today was an amazing day because the NBA started up again! I got to see my wonderful team in all of their glory. Ahh.... I hope that everyone can now more fully appreciate the sanctity of the overlooked and most wonderful day of the week....THURSDAYS.

I am 20 Dollars
Do you ever feel used? Do you ever feel like you never get to be the crisp 20 dollar bill that everyone wants.... you just get to be the crumpled up, been-through-the-wash-in-someone's-pants, worn out and torn 20 dollar bill? The latter 20 dollar bill is me lately. You might even be the lost twenty dollar bill. People still care about you, but you are on the back burner until one day you will magically reappear in those old jeans. You will then be treated like the 'new' 20 dollar bill. I think everyone wants me for my 'stuff'. But not in the literal sense. People want to use me because there isn't anyone else to hang out with in this small college town, people want to use me to get rides to places they want to go(but not really with me), and people want to use me for my apartment. You know when you feel bad handing the cashier at the grocery store that 20 dollar bill that is barely recognizable? Yep. That's me. I know that someday I will get to be the crisp, pressed, send-to-your-grandson-on-his-birthday-in-a-cute-card kind of 20 dollar bill. The moral of the story is no matter whether you are lost, torn, broken, taped right down the middle, crumpled or been through the wash too many times, you are still worth the full 20 dollars. And one day people will treat you like you are worth your full value. But until then..... just remember what you are worth. Don't let anyone tell you anything different.

College is.......
As most of my readers know, I am currently going to college. I had no idea what to expect when I came here. It was a world of the unknown and it seemed scary. But really, it wasn't. It is one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I LOVE it here! It is absolutely fantastic. I have been introduced to so many endless possibilities. To me, college is staying up super late with your roommates, dragging main to Celene Dion, rides up to the cabin, tons of homework, singles wards, BOYS (of course), movies, spray paint, dinners together, quote walls, Hollister posters, laughing until you can't breathe, spilling your deepest darkest secrets to people you trust, phone calls, dancing on the counter, quesadilla parties, midnight basketball, loud music, shopping trips, studying, FACEBOOK, taking tons of ridiculous pictures, and so much more that can't be explained in a short blog. I never thought I could have this much fun and be this happy when I wasn't with my family. I miss my small town and I miss knowing everyone and everyone knowing me. But this experience is incomparable to the real world. I have only been here for a month and I LOVE it. I can't imagine my life being anything else right now. What is college to you?

The One and Only Noland
My last and final piece of the puzzle that makes up my family is Noland. Noland. If you knew him that would be self explanatory. He loves being spontaneous. The best thing about him is his zest for life. Everything in life is absolutely dandy, and I love that he loves it. His best feature is his real laugh. If you can make this kid laugh, really laugh, then you can't help but laugh too. He always keeps everyone guessing what he will do next. I love that he gets super excited about everything. He is very sensitive to everyone else around him. He is sympathetic. He is always there if you had a bad day or if you just need some help. Everyone that knows Noland has a "Noland Story". In my small town, everyone knows him. He is super friendly and attracts followers wherever he goes. He is a trend setter. I miss him tons already and I have only been gone a week! That is the end of my wonderful family. I hope that you can learn to love them as I do. I am glad that everyone got to take a peek at the wonderful people who make my house a home.

Sisters
How do I even start this blog? This is about my most favorite sister. How do I even begin to paint the picture of my loving, compassionate sister. Pretty much even though I am the older sister, she sure has taught me alot more about life than I could have ever dreamed. She is the prime example of service. She is constantly serving without recognition and without fanfare. She is without guile. She is a dancer. She dances for 3 hours every morning. She is a psycho blogger. She loves it! And actually her blogs are hilarious. Lou is the family dictionary. She is always using insanely massive words. No one can stay up with her rapidly expanding vocabulary. We are best friends and have been since I was five. We have always shared a room and I think we are closer because of that. I will miss her tons when i move this week. Lou is one of those people that i can totally be myself in front of. I will never forget how wonderful she is. I would never have picked anyone else to be my sister. Love ya Lou!

Hey Nick (Hey Jude)
Continuing down my family list, next is Nick. Nick and I are only 2 1/2 years apart. We have almost always been in the same school. We have spent alot of time riding in cars before he could drive, talking to and from school. I would say that we are close, but sometimes we don't get along. I will miss his smiles and constant happy personality. I will miss his, "Guess what Kyleigh??" He is fun and full of energy. He loves our little dog. He is super compassionate but not many people know that about him. He keeps all his secrets inside until he knows that he can really trust you. I will miss him asking me for advice. I am proud that he is my brother. I look up to him. (Now I do literally. Not that I would ever admit that to him.) I will miss his random facts at dinner. I will just miss him when I leave that's all there is to it! I am glad I got to grow up with him. I am glad that my mom had all of us super close together, so that we could all be best friends. I wouldn't have it any other way! Love ya Nick! If any of my readers are wondering about the title of this blog. My brother is madly in love with the Beatles (HEY JUDE) hence, Hey Nick.

Ode to Supermom
This is my tribute to my wonderful super mom. I really have the most amazing mom in the world. I know that all of my readers might want to argue that point... I hate to disappoint you but you are sorely mistaken. My mom is who everyone wants to be. I get told that on a consistent basis. I am frequently asked, "Your mom works, cleans and cooks dinner every night??" "Yep. She's super mom." How do you count the ways that your mother has been an influence in your life? Can I count the sleepless nights she spent waiting up til insane hours of the night because I was on a date? Can I count how many times she knew just how to fix whatever was wrong? Thank you just seems inadequate. How can you thank one of the people that shaped you and helped you grow into the person you are? She is under the impression that when I leave I will totally forget about my wonderful home in my wonderful small town. But how could I? I will never forget the 'special time' my mom took with me. Listening, sluffing school and going shopping, shakes, and long talks at night time. I love my mom and hope to be even half as good as her when I grow up. Love ya MOM!!

Triubute to One of My Heroes
This is the start of the tributes to my amazing family. Only 6 people and a puppy are lucky enough to live under this roof. I just want my readers to see how I see my wonderful parents and siblings. In the song The Best Day by Taylor Swift, she sings about her family but really she was singing about mine.
"I have an excellent father, his strength is making me stronger
got smiles on my little brother[s and sister], inside and out,[they're] better than I am I grew up in a pretty house and I had space to run..... And Daddy's smart and you're the prettiest lady in the whole wide world"
Because I do have an excellent father. So my Daddy is tonight's tribute. I think that I respect him the most in the entire world. I have never seen anyone so kind and unconditional. Especially since I starting working at the plant that he works, I have a deeper understanding for just how much he loves me. I can't imagine working that hard everyday if you didn't love your family. He has done so much for me. I don't even know where to begin to thank him. I will always remember the great things that we have done together. I love that he has the time to teach me to change tires and cook. I love his insight on things. When I move to college, I will probably miss his smile and the way that he can make everyone in the whole house roar with laughter the very most. LOVE YA DADDY!

Typical Monday? I think NOT!
Okay it's official! Did you know that it is possible to have a good monday... maybe even a great monday. Yep. I set a world record for the first good monday in the history of the world. I got to see the sun rise over the corn fields. I thought that the sky was on fire because the colors were so incredible. I get to work with some amazing people who keep me laughing. And they definitely keep me on my toes too. I know you are waiting for a climatic finish to this blog. There isn't sorry! The whole point is that you can have a perfectly perfect day without anything superb happen. In all honesty, I had a normal average day. I ate lunch. I worked and I laughed and got teased. But I think that all the tiny things worked together to make me have great day. In the song Perfect Day by Lady Antebellum it has the best message.
It was the perfect day
What I'd give if I could find a way to stay
Lost in this moment now
Ain't worried about tomorrow
When you're busy livin in a perfect day.
I love that! Isn't that so super happy?

Three Yellow Cars
In a book I once read, it said that if you see three yellow cars you are going to have a terrible, no good, very bad day. But on the other hand if you saw three red cars, then it was going to be a superb, fantastic day. I beg to differ. I think yellow cars are gorgeous unlike red cars. (My apologies to anyone unlucky enough to own a red car.) I think it is completely opposite. Today I had an uneventful, monotonous day. I saw three red cars on the way to work just so you know.... After I got home, I got a phone call from my best friend who lives in a different town. She told me that she was going to be attending the same college as me! I wanted to cry with relief and happiness! I was overcome! BEST DAY EVER!! Then I made homemade strawberry ice cream. Also an awesome day. So long story short, because I drive a yellow car, I am contributing to good days of others. I definitely deserve brownie points for that! So the moral of the story is that when you see three yellow cars you are going to have a great day! :)

Like Learning to Drive All Over Again....
My current life feels almost like I am learning to drive a stick shift all over again. I feel shaky and like I kill the car alot! I am learning to adjust to change slowly. It's like I am learning when to change gears and even though I paint all day long every day it is still hard to get used to. Everything is happening really fast, which is like when one day driving my little yellow manual car finally clicked. I finally got my apartment in the city where I am going to be attending college. I am really excited because I will have my own bathroom, my own room and a walk-in closet! I have no idea who I will be living with and that scares me slightly. I have all of my classes. I am starting to make a list of things to buy for college. I leave home in less than a month! I don't know really what to do. It is like my life is now a blank page. My parents won't be protecting me anymore. I am free, but I'm not really sure how I feel about that. I know that I will be moving out before I know it. I will leave behind my loving family and everything I know. I am heading out into the unknown. I feel like I am going to be blind for a couple of weeks. Hopefully, I will meet some people that will grab my hand and walk me to the light. Wish me luck because pretty soon the Girl in the Yellow Car will be driving away from my little small town. My trunk and backseat will be packed to the brim with everything I own.

I Have Traded My My Purse for a Lunchbox
As I was walking back to my car after a long day of painting, (8 hours to be exact) I started thinking. I mean I have a 15 min hike from the office to my car. (Because I love my car, I walk.) I had a bright green lunchbox in my hand, steel-toed boots on, my hair pulled up into a messy bun and paint ALL over. As I looked at my shadow, I thought to myself, "I would have never guessed that I would be here right now." I have traded my cute curly hairdos for hardhats. I have traded my super cute bright yellow Dolce&Gabbana purse for my not so stylin' green lunchbox. I have traded tanning everyday at the local reservoir for painting. I have traded my Miss Me, Big Star and BKE jeans for paint splattered no labels. No earrings, no jewelry. I really don't recognize myself! I guess change is a good thing, right? I don't have any cell service until 5pm every night. But I guess I am making double what I was at the local grocery store... so I am not going to complain. I really am starting to like painting. I don't even mind the 45 min drive to work everyday because it gives me a chance to think. I am learning to like all of the secretaries. I am pro at painting now. So although
I don't look or feel anything like myself, I guess I am okay with change for a minute.
I don't look or feel anything like myself, I guess I am okay with change for a minute.

I am on a roller coaster.....
Life is like a roller coaster. I have been highs, doing all kinds of spins and twirls and loving life. Then suddenly the ride comes to a steep slope and upward climb. Everything I know to be relatively legit in my life is slowly spiraling out of control. I seem moody and depressed if things don't work out exactly like I hoped they would. Honestly, what I want more than anything in the world is to be happy. Another similarity between life and roller coasters is that I am always scared out of my mind to get on the ride but once I am on, it is all worth it. I have so much wasted worry in my life. I shouldn't dread the inevitable or the unknown. Tomorrow, I am venturing into the unknown, a brand new job. In 8 weeks, I will be leaving my home and moving also into the unknown. So I need to buckle up and hold on tight. I know that everything happens for a reason. So i hope that I can turn this downward crash into a thrill and laughter. Starting tomorrow I am officially an adult. No more careless days. New job = full time! So wish me luck!

Frogs (Impostors) that Seem to Be Princes
I recently realized that there is more to life than text messages, shopping and well stupid boys. When you are well almost, in a relationship, then the world has an extra sparkle, everything seems magical. He seems like your Prince Charming. And when its over, you feel like the world is totally different! Like everything changed! It is strange to imagine when you are going through this that the world can even move on! Nothing really changes... just you. I mean people still buy groceries, people still go to work, and contrary to popular belief--the sun does shine. There are still beautiful things. I am independent. I can do things all by myself. Honestly, I only need me to make me happy. So really family is much more important than dumb boys--although sometimes they get the brunt of being ditched and waiting up until insane hours in the morning so you can get off your wonderful date. I think when you are looking for love you will never find it... But if you just live and don't desperately search for Mr. Right, then I think that he will come and find you. I am also so grateful for a family that loves me and listens to me! :)I think I am going to have to date alotta frogs (impostors) before I find my Prince. But I am totally fine with that because I still have my whole life ahead of me!

One morning you wake up and everything changes.....
I finally start to accept the transition from high school into the workplace. I have worked there for almost two years. I meet a guy and start consistently 'hanging out'. (only two official dates) I am on a schedule. I knew what days of the week to expect what. I was in my comfort zone. I was lovin life! I guess that is the key to the whole mess that I am in. When i get into my comfortable rut, that is when everything seems to change. First major change: the guy that I am 'hanging with' that is interested in me, got a job in my future town of residency. So aka I am stuck in the small town and he is 2 1/2 hours south of me. [Long distance relationships don't work :(] The next huge change: I got a new job too. It pays twice what my current one does. So as much as I don't want to leave my perfect little rut and my minimum wage job, I have to. So now my world is lost, spinning out of control. Now I will have a new job and no social life. I am dreading it. I am so sick of last.... last day of work, last day to hang out with you. For lack of a better word, its super lame. Obviously, this is all happening to me so that I will be better at adapting to change. HELP!!!

The Four Letter Word
Yesterday was a definite mile marker in my life.... I have officially graduated from high school. Honestly, it is the strangest feeling I have ever felt. I feel like I am in Dr. Seuss' book 'Oh the Places You'll Go'. It reads, "for people waiting. Waiting for a train to go or a bus to come, or a plane to go, or the mail to come, or the rain to go, or for the phone to ring, or waiting around for your hair to grow... Everyone is just waiting...." That is my exact feeling right now. I am not officially in college but I am not really in high school either. So really I am in limbo... or I guess you could call it a transition period in my life. I have always been one to dig a nice rut. I love my little rut... But sometimes life jerks me out of my comfort zone and makes me start digging a new rut all over again. I guess that is what life is. A constant digging, of ruts that are old and some that are new. I have cried more this week than I think I have in a very long time. The four letter word 'last' has become a poisonous by word in my home. But I guess that with the four letter word, comes a newer version five letter version called 'first'. So I guess this is where my true journey begins in the real world. The next few years will define me because I get to choose. So wish me luck in the big bad world...

Small Town Celebrity
Oh man! I feel so bad if I ever had any followers I have probably lost all of them! I have been so busy! I have gone out of town 3 of the 5 school days this week. My high school career is quickly coming to an end. I have mixed feelings about graduating. I am so excited to be in the real world and leave my small town behind. But the REAL reality of graduating is leaving behind my comfort zone, my domain. I know everything and almost everyone. Everyone knows me and expects me to act in a certain way.... I am not scared of moving away or going to college or having roommates. My deepest and only fear is acceptance. I have NO ABSOLUTELY, I repeat! No friends or even anyone I kind of know going to my same school. In my little town, I feel like somewhat of a movie star. Everywhere I go, someone who I have never laid eyes on knows me, knows my name and what I am all about. Like I said EVERYONE knows EVERYONE. So I love my little life of fame, from the little kids running up to me at work and giving me big hugs, to the middle schoolers acting like seniors rule the world, to all of my teachers and parents who think I am cooler than I actually am, I will miss it all. So I guess this is when fairytale meets reality TV show. Now the small town celeb has to grow up and move to a place where she won't be famous. No one will expect anything of her but herself. So will this small town girl luck! I am going to need it!

The Story of Ugly Betty
Have you ever been accused of doing something that you absolutely didn't do?? Have you ever had someone so angry at you that they are making your life a living you know what?? Have you ever had that someone be a coworker?? Well that is exactly what my current situation is. I am 100% innocent of all accused crimes! I promise! Because I am a girl and she is a girl, (We will name her Ugly Betty) it is obviously over gossip. Now don't get me wrong, I am totally not perfect. I am the farthest thing from it. But I promise on my life that I really did not say one word about her. Needless to say, she has told the entire store what a brat I supposedly am, BUT I NEVER SAID ANYTHING! So I am contemplating getting a new job, moving RIGHT after I graduate.... well actually endless possibilities. But all of those end in the big giant fact staring me in the face, that if I do any of the above, SHE WINS! And I really don't want her to win! So I guess the next 2 1/2 months of work might be miserable because she has turned the entire store against me (over nothing). So I will acclaim my innocence! I have only two loyal friends left but I guess it is a good thing that I am graduating. My only consolation is that I will forever be happy in my current state, and UGLY BETTY will be forever miserable no matter what happens. So the moral of this story is even if everyone at your entire job hates you for some crazy crime that you did in no way commit, retain your happiness, because one day UGLY BETTY will get what is coming...... (hopefully)

Life After High School
Do you realize what time it is?? It is APRIL! April should be called the month of change, or almost change. I mean I am graduating in almost a month! I will never be in high school ever again. Strange huh?? I have finally chosen a college. I am looking for not only housing but a job! In two weeks, the new Student Body Officers for next year will be chosen. I feel like a huge has been! I mean I love high school! I have not regretted one minute of it! Pretty soon I will meet all new people, have new classes and brand new teachers and a new home.I really am trying to take all the moments in and just live my life! Wish me luck with trying to deal with all the NEW coming my way!:) I am one of those stuck in a happy rut kind of people. It practically takes a backhoe to change my course of direction! It's hard to imagine life after high school. But somehow I know that this isn't as good as it gets. I know plenty of happy adults. My new motto will be 'Be happy in your CURRENT situation! Be satisfied with the here and now!'

Running a Race from Denim to Lace
One of my wonderful but few followers informed me that I have not been keeping up my blog as I should! So I would like to apologize for forsaking my poor readers. But really I haven't been able to blog because I have had so much going on! In one of my earlier posts I talked about my family running a race, and I was going to cheer on the sidelines. Well folks! Here I am! I hopped the yellow tape holding me back and I might be running faster than all of them! It's buckle up time! I am currently an AYSO soccer coach for 14 year olds and I love it! Mostly because when you are the coach, your team has to listen to you! It is required, and I am pretty bossy so that works for me! I am also still working morning shifts and now taking some more night shifts. I just finished helping with a Little Miss pageant in my area. Now in two weeks I will be the one in the pageant! Now I must have split personality disorder! Because although I love shopping, fashion and the latest trends, I love playing sports, fishing and playing pickup basketball with the college boys. So as my little sister would say from denim to lace. So even when I am wearing my evening gown in the pageant, I am still the girl who goes four-wheeling and hopes that someday I will get a nasty black eye. Although I have two dressers and a closet stuffed to the brim with the latest trends from Nordstrom and Buckle, at least half of my wardrobe consists of basketball shorts and tshirts! I guess that is what makes me unique!

Is there such thing as a perfect day?
Today... hmmm where do I start? Is it possible to have the perfect day? Well, if so I did! I didn't have to go to school for the second day in a row. (By the way, I wasn't illegally skipping school because the law says that if you are UNDER 18 you must be in school 4 hours a day. Therefore, since my marvelous birthday magically turned me into an adult.) ANYWAY.... so i skipped school and went on a one day road trip with my family. My mom was worried sick because I was driving my little yellow car with all of her kids inside. And just so you know, I am typing this so you know that I made it home safe:) The only downfall was that I went into WalMart to change my clothes and left one of my most prized possessions behind. In theory, some bratty little girl snagged, her mom saw her with it and made her take it back to WalMart's customer service. But needless to say, I cried all the way home because I was unaware that, in fact, my iPod was sitting safely at customer service. So when I received the call from Mr. Johnson at WalMart, I was crying but this time I was not wallowing in bitterness, I was crying from joy! So in conclusion I got to skip school, go shopping, lose an iPod, gain an iPod, and my favorite NBA team won! :) love ya- Girl in the Yellow CAr

I Bit off More Than I Could Chew......
Have you ever heard the expression, I bit off more than I could chew??? Well fellow followers of Girl in the Yellow Car, I have officially bit off more than I could chew! Seriously! When I first signed up to be a youth soccer coach, I was told that I would be coaching 8 year old girls. Cute right? Also the parents aren't crazy yet because the kids really just run around and kick the ball. They don't comprehend offsides, PKs(penalty kicks) or a set offense. But I got a call this evening about coaching. I was super excited about my new soccer team. Except one minor detail that was left out when I was first informed of my coaching position. Now don't get me wrong! I am all about the whole coaching thing! I mean I am super excited that I have now been given the authority to boss people around and they are required to listen to me! That is great news!! I mean what more could a bossy, leadership prone person want more than 15 girls to boss! Well, my wonderful phone call informed me that I will not be coaching cute 8 year olds. I will be coaching U-14! Do you have any idea what this means!? This is disastrous! The parents are crazy! I might possibly get into a screaming match! I mean it is not a high school team, where if you are good you play. No questions asked. The parents payed for the girl to play so she has to even if she is awful. And 14 year olds! Do you really think that they are going to want to listen to a senior in high school telling them to run ladders to get them into shape? I don't think so! Well, I have officially bit off more than I can chew so wish this U-14 soccer coach good luck! I am going to need it!!

Cooking On the Sidelines
Whenever I need to clear my head and think, I either go driving or cook. They are both very therapeutic. Driving with no particular purpose in mind, just driving, clears all thoughts. It helps me to think clearly. Then I turn my music up until I can see the speakers dancing in sync to the beat of my favorite song. Lately, I feel like everyone in my life is running a race and I need a break. So for the sake of my wallet(because payday isn't until next week and gas is almost $3.00), tonight I cook. Lately, my family has been really busy with alot of things. My amazing dad has to work long days which is a good and bad thing. Every single night my brothers are wrestling, doing karate, play practice or tennis. My little sister just made the high school drill team, so she is gone constantly with practice and performances. And my wonderful mom is trying the juggle everything on one single platter. So as I am not in the family race right now, I have minor stresses that are really of no concern to the race, I think that I will stand on the sidelines and cheer them on. Well not really, I will stand back and cook. The idea of taking something that I have never heard of before and turning it into something wonderful still fascinates me. I love searching the internet for new ideas! My favorite thing to do is try to make something out of the raw ingredients already at my house. So tonight as I experiment on the sidelines, pray that I don't burn the casserole! :)

So Much for Throwback Jerseys and Typewriters.....
I would just like to say that I will be eternally grateful for the 'backspace button'. Because I am pretty fast at typing, but as my fingers seem to be flying across the keys, I seem to hit about every other key besides the one that I was intending on hitting. So I worked on wretched college scholarship applications. WORST IDEA EVER! There were tons of questions, followed by an insane amount of response lines. Which means, if you want to get the scholarship, you must resort to old school methods. Now don't get me wrong! I am all for 1920s movies and NBA throwback jerseys but I must say no when it comes to TYPEWRITERS. I now know why they were discontinued.... because it is practically impossible to hit every right key in a 300 word essay. Needless to say, I had to retype the essay 8 times before I got it right! OH MY GOSH! Before I was done, I had to take an ice cream break and watch my favorite NBA team, because I could face the awful death machine, otherwise known as the typewriter. I have always thought that I was born in the wrong time period, but today I was proven unmistakeably, wrong. I was born in this era because every twenty minutes I have to update my Facebook status, check my GMail, check my phone for text messages, and surf the web 24/7. If I didn't have technology, quite frankly I think that I would cry myself to sleep at night. So the moral of the story is, live in the present because the stuff we have now is great! So if you ever have the awful sensation of running a typewriter I am very very sorry. So I better get at least one scholarship that I put my heart and soul into! haha!

Morning After It Rains
Sometimes my life feels like the current weather in my small hometown. One day the weather is warm enough to fool everyone into thinking that is almost spring. The next day it rains. Then it's really cloudy and as if the weather couldn't possibly get any worse you wake up in the morning to a blizzard and fog! But a couple of days later, the fog clears, the snow melts and it turns into a beautiful day. The air is crisp with humidity, and the clean air sends a shiver down your spine. This is like my current life. But as much as I would love to see the fog clear and the blizzard of life subside, it hasn't. So even though I am still roughing the storms of life, I know that the fog will clear and I will get to taste the morning after it rains.

Off with the green produce apron!
For those of you who hated work today and those of you who hate the people you work with.... I am here to testify that having a WONDERFUL day at work, is in fact, POSSIBLE! It sounds kind of scary and a little intense and yes, it is! I loved work today! I got to work in customer service today. (usually I am confined to work in the mornings throwing freight with my zebra jammies.) Although I love going to work in the morning, there is just something about working from 4-10 in customer service! I am a social butterfly! It was wonderful! Even though I wasn't even working with wonderful people! Like the morning crew is so much more super fun than the night crew! But really I was so happy the entire time I was there! I wasn't practically forced into a vow of silence as I put out the roma tomatoes! HAHA No one could figure out why I could sound so happy on the phone and be nice to even the most terrible customers! Wow! It was exhilarating! The best news is that tomorrow I get to do the same thing!! I am so excited! I can't even breathe! So next time you are headed to your dull, possibly monotonous job, just think that you have it better than the girl in the yellow car because you aren't touching moldy avocados. So I am still a people-person! And I love working in a checkstand! I am going to boycott the green produce apron! :)

The Modified View Through My Rear View Mirror
My entire life, ever since I can remember, all I have ever wanted to do was leave my small, confining town. The population is around 3,000, if that gives any of you readers and idea. It has one stoplight, two competing grocery stores and one movie theater. I have dreamed for many years of the day that I would get in my yellow car packed to the brim with boxes labeled 'Kyleigh's College Stuff', and drive away from my small hometown. I have always imagined my small town in my rear view mirror and smiled. That has always been what I wanted, until just barely. I went to a leadership weekend at a college that I have been highly considering attending in the fall. I had a very rude awakening of what college life might actually be like. No one knew me. This is strange! Remember where I am from! Everyone in my little town knows me, my parents, where I work and everything that I am involved in. I considered myself an outgoing person but yet again I was proven drastically wrong. I was completely out of my element! I didn't know what to do or say! I didn't even remember how to be smooth when I was flirting! I thought that I was good at it! But yet again---my bubble has been burst! I need to work on my boy skills obviously. I guess that this conference yielded one very important piece of information. I will now enjoy, to the fullest, my last months of pure high school life. Although this is definitely a strange feeling, I openly welcome it. I never want to be one of those people that are stuck in high school, that never move on. They are constantly saying 'Back in the day....' I will not be this! I know that I just need to enjoy life right where I am. I will stop wishing away my time in my little hometown. Because no matter what, after graduation nothing will be the same. But it can't be. And I guess I am excited about that. What would life be like if every day was high school? There would be never-ending drama and a constant popularity contest! What a mess! I will never wish to go back but I am content to be here in my little town, in my own little world, stuck in high school. :)

My Brain Has Been Reduced to Oatmeal
Have you ever done enough homework to make your brain turn to mush? Well my brain has been turned into a useless bowl of oatmeal! Nothing is going on! TRUST ME! I have a new college class that I am working on. It has to do with drugs and drug interactions, which are extremely interesting to me, because I am going to become a pharmacist. But I had to do a HUGE study guide that is five pages and counting.... [because as much as I wish that I could say that it was done... it's not] And I also had to write a four page paper on caffeine. Interesting huh? Well for all of those caffeine addicts out there, [I am exempt from the curse because never has Mountain Dew once graced my lips.] there is only so much that you can write about caffeine! Haha well anyway I also got assigned to do a book group at my local library. I wouldn't mind except the book that I am currently being forced to read is about magic, knights and bloody boars. Don't ask! Just trust me on this one! It has been a rough 167 pages! But the worst part is that there is still more than 200 pages that I haven't read and I know that it is bound to be worse! Anyway, I will take my oatmeal reduced brain and try to finish my countless hours of work ahead of me! Who knew that graduating could liquefy brains??

Daddy's Cooking Runs in My Veins....
I decided that I am obsessed with food.... well and cooking. One of my new year's resolutions this year was to eat better. You know... better foods with more substance. Like an apple instead of a resee's. But I have taken healthy cooking to new levels. Did you know that Google is officially my new best friend? Anything that you want to find fat free cookies, sugar free waffles, there are innumerable possibilities! I have been trying new recipes constantly! I love it! It is kind of a challenge.... taking raw ingredients and a piece of paper and turning it into something wonderful! I love shocking my family with my latest 'healthy' concoction! Most of the time it is incredible! It is hard to believe that food that is so good for you that can taste well AMAZING!! There is so much satisfaction in the art of cooking. But before I can cook, I have to put on my iPod and get in 'The Zone'. The Zone is a wonderful trait that my father and I both share. My family always knows when Daddy is cookin, because we come home to hard 80's rock and the intoxicating aroma of Daddy's cooking! So I guess that it runs through my veins! If you have any exquisite recipes post them! tata!

And Waiting....
Do you know what the worst thing in the entire world is??? WAITING... Waiting at traffic lights, waiting in line, waiting for a phone call or text message, waiting for a night that you have been planning, and well just plain waiting! I hate it! I mean I love it when things are on time! The worst is waiting for good news. I think that society today seems to be waiting for someone or something better. I am also fall into this rut. It seems like life can never give us enough. We can never have enough money or clothes or food. But I guess that in a strange and simple way, waiting is like a beautiful gift to all humanity. Because the longer you wait for something, it seems to be sweeter to the taste, more incredible to be heard, more enchanting to hold and more like a victory. And most of the time, when I wait for something it seems to be better. Maybe I am just psychotic to think that waiting can do humans wonders, but I rest my case. So I am going to try to wait for things. Possibly, even treasure the anxiety that results from the 'W' word. So today I challenge all my readers to wait..... for something..... anything....

Life Is Like Basketball.....
Something really struck me, as I was watching my favorite NBA team play, and play really well I might add! I realized that life is alot like basketball. First, there will always be all-stars and sometimes you are a bench warmer. There are times in life when you have to cheer your heart out and be the best sixth-man, even if it's hard. Even though those players might be the all-stars of today, someday you will get your turn to shine. Like in basketball, teamwork is crucial to not only your successes but everyone else's.If you play like a team, then naturally you win. And sometimes, just like basketball, no matter how hard you try you still lose the game. But that just means that you buckle up and try again. A true champion is not one that has never fallen, but no matter how many times he falls, he just gets right back up. Time is short in basketball, so you have to act fast. Take every moment for what it's worth! And LIVE! Life is like basketball because there are those that are passionate about the game and try to be their very best, and those who will only ever achieve mediocrity. So today I want to passionately play the game, share the highlights and live for the love of it. I want to holler and scream until I can't breathe when my teammates and I win. I want to be the all-star and never be mediocre.I want to be known, well maybe not for my basketball skills, but for how I played the game. So let's live like a basketball game, fast-paced, full of roller coasters, and enthusiasm! LET'S PLAY BALL!

Blacklight Fashion Show
Last night was a BIG NIGHT! It was the night that the SBOs had been planning for over a month. It was something totally new and random that my small town had never before seen. My fellow student body officers and I had gone to a leadership conference over the summer and fell in love with this idea.... the idea of a BLACKLIGHT DANCE! And seriously, if you have never been to one you are WAY missing out! It is one of the best/strangest things you will ever see! As student body officers, we had tried new advertising techniques in hopes to attract as many of our student body as possible. Where I live, there are only about 500 kids in my entire high school, so pretty much everyone knows everyone else. Sometimes that gets a little weird haha! But when I arrived, I had on a florescent yellow, I mean hurts your eyes if you look at it too long yellow shirt on, complete with mulit-colored nikes, zebra acrylic nails and Big Star jeans! So needless to say, I was feeling pretty confident in myself haha! But one of the DJs that was setting up for our extremely awesome dance was drop-dead-fall-off-your-seat-gorgeous! And he totally hit on me! [which was another plus!] But it was really fun! Everything was neon and the dance was strewn with people not only wearing glowsticks, but literally wearing them! They broke everywhere including all over the gym floor, walls and everyone else. It was like a florescent fashion show in the complete dark. But the only not-so-fun part were slow songs. Slow songs and Valentine's Day, I mean Single's Awareness Day, are possibly the MOST humiliating thing for a poor boyfriendless girl like me. But don't get me wrong! I have no desire to be tied down to anyone! I have plenty of time for that later! But it was a pretty kickin dance! And the definite best part was that I had to stay after and clean up until 12:30! That might not sound like fun to you.... but to me that means breaking my moms curfew ultimatum! I am not kidding either! For every minute I am late, my phone is gone for a day. So yesterday, I felt like I got to exercise my full power of being 18!

Paint and Snow
Well where do I begin.... Well probably at the beginning! When I went to work at 4:30 this morning it was relatively calm, brisk morning, nothing out of the ordinary. By the time I got off work at seven, two hours later, my small down was frosted with snow! SNOW! I am getting spring fever really bad! I want to wear my shorts and super cute sandals! But you are obviously wondering why the title of my little expose' is Paint and Snow. Well in my Student Body Officer prep period today, the SBOs made posters advertising the upcoming blacklight dance. So our posters were black paper with white writing. Well one of my fellow officers decided that the posters would look amazing if they were not only black and white but also splatter painted with neon colors! Well that was an AWFUL idea! Picture this! I am wearing my nice clothes, a cream shirt from Nordstrom, and BKE jeans just to start! So the idea of splatter paint on a $40 shirt is not very fascinating. So another officer, a boy obviously, decided that my arm should double as a canvas. So when I left the SBO room I looked like I had interrupted a pre-school class during finger painting. Although my arms were quite a work of art, it was quite a sight to see a senior girl walking down the crowded halls off my small high school, looking like something out of a Skittles commercial. It was really fun but it also took me about 25 minutes to repair the damage done to my rainbow colored arms. So note to self! Never wear Nordstrom and BKE jeans on SBO prep day! You never know what surprises are in store!

Its A What....? A SURPRISE!
Do have any idea what the best feeling in the world is?? Being SURPRISED! I mean think about it! How much fun is Christmas if you already know everything that you are getting? What is a birthday, if an old friend that you haven't seen in a while doesn't call you and what's the word....? Oh yeah! SURPRISES YOU! See! And what is better than waking up and seeing that you have a cute text message! You are surprised! Being surprised stimulates something inside of me! I get a rush of excitement! My head starts spinning and I have to resist the urge to sing at the top of my lungs! [Most of the time I do because glass objects simultaneously combust at the sound of my pipes!] I did get 2 lovely surprises! First, was when I arrived at work my supervisor handed me a what.....? A SURPRISE! Yes! After two years of dedication to my local grocery store, I finally received a jacket with my name on it! I am so proud! I have always wanted a name tag!! And second! I opened the mail box to see what inside....? Yes! You guessed it! A SURPRISE! A letter! Yeah! I love letters, especially long ones! Wahoo! So my day was full of surprises! If you had any wonderful surprises let me know!! :]

Does the purple cotton candy in my hair make me look cute?
Wow! Today was so great! Have you ever noticed that when you think that you don't look your best, you pretty much just rolled out of bed, that tons more cute guys hit on you?? Yes!! YES! It is so true! I went to a huge high school wrestling tournament today and the student body officers (I am the secretary) had to sell cotton candy. Cotton candy sounds like a great endeavor to many people! Don't get me wrong! I am probably a purple cotton candy addict! But anyway high school wrestling is like watching tv! I mean there are like 50 guys from ten different schools! You do the math! YEAH! Anyway my fellow officer and I were trying to sell purple cotton candy to starving, sweaty, and on the occasion cute wrestlers. If you are trying to sell wrestlers food....well they pretty much starve themselves constantly so that is pretty tough on business! But we did have a few wrestlers who got weak and gave in to the luscious, fluffy purple cotton candy. Well most of them that were weak[not in the literal sense of the word. I mean most of the wrestlers had monster arms and chiseled abs] But I couldn't decide if they were buying the cotton candy to hit on me and my co officer or because they were literally starving! But I really was covered completely in purple cotton candy! I had a ton of guys hit on me! So obviously I can really rock purple cotton candy!

My True Calling in Life!
Do you know what I realized today? Today is a monumental day in the history of Kyleigh Bomer. Seriously! For the longest time, I thought that I was talentless, drowning in the deep, suffocating waters of everyone else's talents. But lo and behold! I finally discovered my hidden.... well maybe now that I think about it, probably not-so-hidden... TALENT! I am amazing at one thing! My true calling in life is to speak! I am so good at talking! And don't take it the wrong way... But really! I can start up a conversation with almost anyone(which comes in handy for my job). The only problem with this wonderful talent is that sometimes no matter how much I speak no one seems to listen. Usually I am full of interesting and humerus stories, but in the end they don't really have any point! But hey! I am really good at getting there! Oh I almost forgot my best attribute! My hands! Although they are long and abnormally large, I cannot tell a story without them! So essentially they are my best feature! I would love to hear if you have any wonderful (hidden maybe) talents! :)

....Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes.....
I have the wonderful opportunity of waking up every Monday,Wednesday and Friday at 4:45 in the morning so that I can be to work by 5:00. I go to work in pajamas. Yes this morning's attire consisted of a bright red tshirt and zebra pajama pants. I was quite the fashion statement! I don't put on any makeup and I just brush my teeth and come to work. I work from 5-7 in the mornings because I don't have a first hour at school. I throw freight in the produce department. (local grocery store) So as I walked out of the door, I was still trying to wake up and come to, before I got behind the wheel of my little yellow car. Then I noticed that my feet were gradually slipping out from underneath me. To my surprise, I beheld a fresh thick blanket of pure white snow! Wow! It was still gently, silently coming down. It seemed as if it was trying to cover up my steps because I had ruined its perfection. Big flakes fell on my face as I walked toward my not so yellow car.... and as i looked up at the black sky I thought...yes I do love snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes.... I thought how incredible it was that I am lucky enough to live in this small town where seasons change! My small town has hot summers and freezing winters! But I love that about it! So I drove my little yellow car through the January winter wonderland! I love snow! I don't even mind driving in it! Yay for snow! And yay for the snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes....

High School PE is.......well AWFUL!
OH MY GOSH! Okay before I begin this blog I would like to say that I am athletic.... Well I thought that I was until today. I mean I have played sports since I was 5! I was on the soccer and basketball team for FOUR years! I was the captain for crying our loud! Okay you know when I blogged about my worst day ever(when I was poked with a needle 5 times?? my arm STILL hurts by the way)well that was nothing compared to today. It was my first (i wish my last) day of high school PE. No amount of training, books, websites or horror stories can prepare you for high school PE. To start off, you have to change out of your wonderfully concocted outfit to get in baggy red shorts and a tshirt. Second, they make you run and do stairs with you hair down, makeup on, and huge earrings! If that's not enough torture for you already, wait until you hear this! After you run up and down stairs and around the gym, the teacher makes you do 20 push ups and 35 crunches. But that was about the only part of the horrible hour and fifteen minutes of class that I didn't totally, completely 100% hate. Then we played badminton. Awful. For those of you who think that badminton is not a contact sport you are very sadly mistaken. The racket and my face came in contact several times. I couldn't hit the birdie even when I tried really hard! It was humiliating just to start. Then they only give you 5 measly minutes to get redressed and beautiful! What an awful class! And why I am in this torture chamber my senior year? Because I was too busy taking important classes where you actually learn something!!! Okay I am done... but on thursday you are definitely going to have to endure another PE rant.

Maybe I Will Break My Little Rut.....
Sometimes in life we have to find out the hard way that things aren't going to work out the way we planned. Sometimes our plans change, even though we aren't sure if we want them to. I am not one to embrace change with an open arms but I think that it is good for us. I am spontaneous! [Don't get me wrong!] I DO want to break out of terrible ruts that I have. For example, every morning for breakfast, I cook one egg, over-easy, and one piece of toast, no butter. Probably for the rest of my life I will do that! Well maybe not, after today. Maybe I will switch out of my deep trench of a rut that I have gotten myself into. I think that sometimes we are forced to learn lessons the hard way. I know that I always seem to find the hardest and longest way to do tasks. And most of the time bad things happen to great people. Such is my life. If I had one wish, I would take away pain and suffering from my friends. I would heal wounds like only time can. I wish that I could go back in time. But only once. I don't want to live in that past, as much as I want to change the outcome. But I know that everything happens for a reason. Even if it's awful. Even if they are a wonderful person. So all I have to say to my readers is forgive and forget. Hold those close to you that you love because you never know when something terrible will divide you. So at least today I am thankful for my little rut. I am grateful for my simple, monotonous life.

Best/Worst Day of My Existence
Today I had the best and worst day of my existence! Well starting with the worst..... I had a doctor's appointment and they broke the hard news. The most dreadful words ever to escape any nurse's lips are 'Now I think we should do some blood work on you. Is that okay?' I wanted to jump up and down and throw a tantrum like a little five year old child. I wanted to scream and grab her by the pink scrubs she was wearing and say, "NO!! You won't take any of my precious blood! I refuse! There is absolutely no way that I am going to allow to stick needles in me under any condition." But unfortunately, that is not what happened. With my head hung over and with much dismay, I agreed to this excruciatingly painful process. The first nurse tried twice and missed my vein both times. I wanted to beat her over the head, with the nearest object nearest to me, which happened to be a chair with wheels, but seeing as I was a little woozy from the whole procedure, I just sat and teetered back and forth on the doctor's table. Then Nurse #2, another vampire, came in to try to extract blood from my most elusive veins. Finally after three missed attempts, he finally drew my blood. For the rest of the day, my arms hurt! I mean, I had been stabbed at least five times to no avail! What a most awful experience!
But somehow, my day turned around! I got a call asking if I would like to buy tickets to an upcoming NBA game of my most favorite team. I was already jumping up and down before I even knew the details. The tickets were on the 4th row, right next to the bench of the best team in the NBA. I started screaming! Because first of all, I haven't been to a game all season, second of all my seats are right by the bench of my team, and thirdly I am madly in love with one of the players. He is older than me but fabulous and single! So although I had to get my blood drawn, which was quite a traumatic experience, I get to go to an NBA game on the 25th! Yeah! So I am going to drive my little yellow car around, singing at the top of my lungs!

The Gray Area
Lately, I have thought a lot about something strange that connects every human being...... Everyone has an obsession......I promise! For some people it might be cleaning, cooking, eating, or even cars. I might be a little obsessed with cars... well actually we better not start with the things that I am obsessed with because the list would go on forever. I have been thinking about healthy obsessions, not being a health freak but how obsession can sometimes be a good thing. For someone who is obsessed with maintaining high academic excellence, obviously that is a good one. I realized that I am obsessed with letters (legit letters [I previously discussed my fascination with mail on saturday]), lipgloss, green Stride gum, acrylic nails, shopping, the Utah Jazz, cute guys, Buckle jeans and teeth but I better stop now! I would like to add that if it is actually possible, I think that Stride puts something in their gum that makes it seriously addicting. I really eat an amazing amount of gum. But that is beside the point. So I guess the fine line between addiction and obsession to me is well.... I a gray area. An obsession can't really be black or white. One person's obsession might be extremely humerus to another individual. If you have any healthy addictions/obsessions let me know! :)
Peace out!

700 Flags
Today I have been officially amazed..... Recently, in my little tight-knit community, a police officer was shot and killed. This might not sound like anything big to those who live in big cities, but it has been a hardship for many people in my community. Today I was lucky enough to get to participate in the funeral procession. 700 Students ranging from elementary children to seniors in high school held 700 flags for 2 1/2 hours, as 723 police cars and 94 motorcycles drove past. It was an immensely rewarding experience. Although both of my arms felt as if they had been rubber cemented into place, I stood reverently and in silent awe with my flag in one hand and my other was placed across my heart. All I could see all the way down the entire road were American flags. I could not believe that 1,000 police officers from everywhere, including neighboring states were in attendance. I can't believe that all of the wonderful policemen and the officer's family fit in our quaint, little stake house. As the policemen stared in utter amazement, at the sheer magnitude of people standing tall with Old Glory, I wanted to cry and clap as they drove past! I wanted to say thank you! Thank you! Thank you for allowing me to feel safe at night when i go to sleep! I am so grateful that I feel safe leaving my car unlocked at my home. I am so grateful for the wonderful country that i am privileged enough to live in and for the incredible men and women that protect me everyday. This was an eye-opener for me. In closing I would just like to say I LOVE YOU AMERICA!!

Cold.....Cold.....Colder
Cold.... cold.... so very cold. In my small town, in my small home, my heater is broken. My used to be warm, wonderful, quaint, little home is now a living igloo. I can see the icicles that have formed on the ceiling! Well not really.... but yes, figuratively speaking. I am currently wearing gloves while typing, which is quite a feat! I am also wearing boots, a hoodie and a coat and have a blanket heaped on top of me. Bright red noses are the fashion statement around my little igloo. Although, I did have the best hot shower of my life! You have no, absolutely no, idea how that shower felt. It felt like I was a melting ice sculpture. But to feel my fingers again!! Oh the JOY! Haha I even did the dishes in scalding water so that I might feel the boiling water sensation. So if you read this and you are slightly cold... the temperature in my little igloo is 50 degrees and I really am not exaggeration, be of good cheer! Why I Love Saturday Mornings
I woke up on this beautiful, white, snow-covered Saturday morning and thought 'Today is going to be wonderful' because the clock said 9:42. The aroma of breakfast, like the kiss to revive Sleeping Beauty, had awoken me from my deep state of unconsciousness. I could hear the news reporting about the bad weather, fallen soldiers and the falling economy and all sorts of awful things. Have you ever noticed that the news always seems to find all of the rotten things in the world and tell about them one after the other? I would love to be in charge of the Headline News for one day. I would find all of the service and wonderful things that people did everyday and tell the world about those kind acts. I want to give people hope. To finish with my morning, I trekked out on the icy ground to check the mail. I love mail. Not email, not a text message, but actual physical, with a stamp, mail. Everyday when I come home from school, or on Saturdays when I wake up in the morning, I run out in whatever I am wearing (this morning it was zebra striped pajamas) and open the mail box. And today was one of those incredible days when, as I was rummaging through the mail I found a surprise..... A letter just for me! I ripped it open with wild excitement! I love reading words meant just for me. I love the fact that someone stopped long enough to write to me. And now as I close my blog, I can smell the intoxicating scent of homemade bagels..... So tata for now!

Hello Everyone :]
This is my hello to the world. I am the girl in the yellow car. Simple and sweet. As of lately, I have been thinking a lot about how and why my world goes round. Laughing until it hurts, singing at the top of my lungs to my poor steering wheel, skipping in the parking lot, being a huge NBA fan, yellow cars, being fashion forward (AKA- No one's fashion sense is quite like mine.) and fingernails painted with zebra stripes are all uniquely me. So this is my hope that maybe one person will read this and maybe smile at my short comings and possibly laugh. So Hello world! Here comes the Girl in the Yellow Car..........
