Running a Race from Denim to Lace

One of my wonderful but few followers informed me that I have not been keeping up my blog as I should! So I would like to apologize for forsaking my poor readers. But really I haven't been able to blog because I have had so much going on! In one of my earlier posts I talked about my family running a race, and I was going to cheer on the sidelines. Well folks! Here I am! I hopped the yellow tape holding me back and I might be running faster than all of them! It's buckle up time! I am currently an AYSO soccer coach for 14 year olds and I love it! Mostly because when you are the coach, your team has to listen to you! It is required, and I am pretty bossy so that works for me! I am also still working morning shifts and now taking some more night shifts. I just finished helping with a Little Miss pageant in my area. Now in two weeks I will be the one in the pageant! Now I must have split personality disorder! Because although I love shopping, fashion and the latest trends, I love playing sports, fishing and playing pickup basketball with the college boys. So as my little sister would say from denim to lace. So even when I am wearing my evening gown in the pageant, I am still the girl who goes four-wheeling and hopes that someday I will get a nasty black eye. Although I have two dressers and a closet stuffed to the brim with the latest trends from Nordstrom and Buckle, at least half of my wardrobe consists of basketball shorts and tshirts! I guess that is what makes me unique!

Is there such thing as a perfect day?

Today... hmmm where do I start? Is it possible to have the perfect day? Well, if so I did! I didn't have to go to school for the second day in a row. (By the way, I wasn't illegally skipping school because the law says that if you are UNDER 18 you must be in school 4 hours a day. Therefore, since my marvelous birthday magically turned me into an adult.) ANYWAY.... so i skipped school and went on a one day road trip with my family. My mom was worried sick because I was driving my little yellow car with all of her kids inside. And just so you know, I am typing this so you know that I made it home safe:) The only downfall was that I went into WalMart to change my clothes and left one of my most prized possessions behind. In theory, some bratty little girl snagged, her mom saw her with it and made her take it back to WalMart's customer service. But needless to say, I cried all the way home because I was unaware that, in fact, my iPod was sitting safely at customer service. So when I received the call from Mr. Johnson at WalMart, I was crying but this time I was not wallowing in bitterness, I was crying from joy! So in conclusion I got to skip school, go shopping, lose an iPod, gain an iPod, and my favorite NBA team won! :) love ya- Girl in the Yellow CAr

I Bit off More Than I Could Chew......

Have you ever heard the expression, I bit off more than I could chew??? Well fellow followers of Girl in the Yellow Car, I have officially bit off more than I could chew! Seriously! When I first signed up to be a youth soccer coach, I was told that I would be coaching 8 year old girls. Cute right? Also the parents aren't crazy yet because the kids really just run around and kick the ball. They don't comprehend offsides, PKs(penalty kicks) or a set offense. But I got a call this evening about coaching. I was super excited about my new soccer team. Except one minor detail that was left out when I was first informed of my coaching position. Now don't get me wrong! I am all about the whole coaching thing! I mean I am super excited that I have now been given the authority to boss people around and they are required to listen to me! That is great news!! I mean what more could a bossy, leadership prone person want more than 15 girls to boss! Well, my wonderful phone call informed me that I will not be coaching cute 8 year olds. I will be coaching U-14! Do you have any idea what this means!? This is disastrous! The parents are crazy! I might possibly get into a screaming match! I mean it is not a high school team, where if you are good you play. No questions asked. The parents payed for the girl to play so she has to even if she is awful. And 14 year olds! Do you really think that they are going to want to listen to a senior in high school telling them to run ladders to get them into shape? I don't think so! Well, I have officially bit off more than I can chew so wish this U-14 soccer coach good luck! I am going to need it!!

Cooking On the Sidelines

Whenever I need to clear my head and think, I either go driving or cook. They are both very therapeutic. Driving with no particular purpose in mind, just driving, clears all thoughts. It helps me to think clearly. Then I turn my music up until I can see the speakers dancing in sync to the beat of my favorite song. Lately, I feel like everyone in my life is running a race and I need a break. So for the sake of my wallet(because payday isn't until next week and gas is almost $3.00), tonight I cook. Lately, my family has been really busy with alot of things. My amazing dad has to work long days which is a good and bad thing. Every single night my brothers are wrestling, doing karate, play practice or tennis. My little sister just made the high school drill team, so she is gone constantly with practice and performances. And my wonderful mom is trying the juggle everything on one single platter. So as I am not in the family race right now, I have minor stresses that are really of no concern to the race, I think that I will stand on the sidelines and cheer them on. Well not really, I will stand back and cook. The idea of taking something that I have never heard of before and turning it into something wonderful still fascinates me. I love searching the internet for new ideas! My favorite thing to do is try to make something out of the raw ingredients already at my house. So tonight as I experiment on the sidelines, pray that I don't burn the casserole! :)
